Year-Round Programming

Routes to Roots Workshop Series: Throughout the year we present great workshops covering a broad spectrum of topics, all the way from Accordion Accents to the latest Zydeco dance moves. We regularly present workshops featuring native crafts, language and oral traditions, gardening with native Louisiana plants, Cajun and Creole cuisine, and much, much more. These intimate sessions are open to the public and feature well-known local musicians, artists, scholars and educators. Our workshops may be performance or presentation-based, instruction-based, discussion-based, hands-on or some combination of all of the above. Most of all, you can be sure that each unique session will offer you a deeper insight into the rich and colorful tapestry of Louisiana culture. Check our News & Events page for more info.

Jam des Amis: On the second Saturday of each month we present a regular Jam des Amis session at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. These informal, acoustic, open-to-the-public Cajun and Creole jam sessions are held in conjunction with downtown Lafayette's ArtWalk and are hosted by various local musicians. Players of all levels are welcome, and folks who don't play an instrument are welcome to drop by and enjoy the music and good times. Check our News & Events page for more info.

Special Events: We regularly host workshops and jam sessions at Lafayette's Festivals Acadiens and Festival International de Louisiane. We also regularly provide programming for the Original Southwest Louisiana Zydeco Festival in Plaisance and other great venues. For information please visit our News & Events section.

Dewey Balfa Cajun & Creole Heritage Week: Held annually in late April; this is our flagship event. Click here to find out more about DBCCHW.
