Wednesday September 22
5:30 p.m. at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, 101 W. Vermilion St. in downtown Lafayette
This very special three-hour workshop and presentation, co-sponsored by the South Louisiana Bluegrass Association, with two of Louisiana's leading guitarists will offer insights and tips on incorporating flatpicking into various roots styles. David Doucet is the noted guitarist and vocalist for the multiple-Grammy-winning BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet. He is widely respected as one of the finest Cajun guitarists working today, and he has released solo CDs in addition to his many recordings with BeauSoleil. Acclaimed guitarist David Sonnier is a longtime member of The Louisiana Purchase Bluegrass Band and has collaborated with David Doucet on various projects in the past. This unique workshop is designed for guitarists of all levels, and non-players are welcome, too. This session will also offer a sneak peek at the workshop performance they're planning for our Atelier stage at this year's Festivals Acadiens et Créoles. The cost for this special presentation is just $15 for the general public; $10 for members of Friends of Louisiana Folk Roots. Pre-registration is suggested as space is limited. Please give us a call or e-mail us for more details.
